The Bloody Twits
Join Us - The Bloody Twits - in our quest to bring new cures to Multiple Myeloma. If you knew my dad, I don't have to explain why our team (well it's just me at this point) is called The Bloody Twits. This was my dad's term of endearment for anyone who may be annoying him at the moment. If he didn't like you, he just ignored you, so this really was his way of showing he cared :)
This year, we will be participating in the Multiple Myeloma Research Foundation (MMRF) Team for Cures 5K Walk/Run. We have committed to raising awareness and funds to accelerate finding a cure for multiple myeloma, which is the second most common blood cancer and is incurable. Your generosity truly makes a difference:
Nearly tripled patient survival
Deliver eleven new treatments in a decade
Launched over 80 new clinical trials
I guess you could say that my dad was one of the lucky ones. He was diagnosed and given roughly 1 to 3 years to live...he lived 8. That is a good thing as we had more time with him...our kids were able to REALLY know him and share so many new memories...we were able to make one last visit to Scotland and England to see many of his siblings, including his beloved twin sister Jean. Yes those were 8 years of hard fought battles, chemo, bone marrow transplants, illnesses, and you know the rest. I am so grateful for those who dedicated their time and donated their money to make these treatments available to my dad. Now it's time for me to do my part.
Please join my team and run/walk with me or help us out with a donation of any size.
Thank You! Ruth Harris (team of 1)
