Team Joe's MMFs (Multiple Myeloma Fighters)

Join Us! Team Joe's MMFs (Multiple Myeloma Fighters) will be walking on May 4th NOT on May 11th. We will be walking in our subdivision not at the Old 4th Ward.

First, for those of you who have walked before, I want to thank you for your support and donations. For those of you who may be new to Team Joe’s MMFs – welcome aboard for the 2019 Team Joe’s event!

Due to the date and location of this year’s Multiple Myeloma Research Foundation (MMRF) walk-run, I (we since Linda is really in charge!) have decided to hold a Team Joe’s MMFs Walk Run event at our house on Saturday, May 4th, starting at 10:00 am and ending with a cookout. Anyone is welcome to come to the event. I am asking everyone to consider donating at least the cost of registering to walk in the MMRF event, which would be $35. Of course, if you would like to donate more it will go to a good cause. I am creating a Team Joe’s MMFs team in the MMRF walk run website and the link is listed below. Please do not register to walk (unless you would like to get an official MMRF t-shirt and go to the Old Fourth Ward on Saturday, May 11th) -- instead donate to my name only. This way your donations go directly to the MMRF.

For those who do not know, I have Multiple Myeloma and was diagnosed in April 2016. I had a stem cell transplant in August 2016, and my new birthday is August 10th. I am currently undergoing monthly chemo and cancer drug treatments. Multiple Myeloma currently is an incurable disease, but research has resulted in several promising treatments that may lead to a cure. The Multiple Myeloma Research Foundation (MMRF) is an outstanding cancer research foundation that is accelerating treatments to battle this blood cancer. An outstanding 90% of the total MMRF budget goes directly to research and related programming. Your support truly makes a difference in the lives of multiple myeloma patients, such as myself.

For those unable to participate I would truly appreciate you donating to the MMRF. In the past two years the donations the MMRF has received from my many friends around the country has amazed Linda and me! Your caring and sincere thoughtfulness has been more than generous. I hope that you will consider donating again this year.

Oh, and of course, we will be providing Official Team Joe’s MMFs t-shirts again this year for all participants in the walk-run. Due to my tardiness (or as Linda says my procrastination!) in getting this email out, I need your t-shirt sizes as soon as possible.

Once again, I want to thank you all for your participation and help! Also, please pass this email on to anyone you think might be interested in donating or participating.
