On May 12, 2018, team Rodney's Roadrunners will be participating in the MMRF Team for Cures: Atlanta 5K Walk/Run to raise awareness and funds for research of multiple myeloma, the second most common form of blood cancer.
As most of you know, I lost my Dad, Rodney Williams, to multiple myeloma in October 2012. Each year since then, I have participated in this event in order to honor him and help fund research for others affected by this disease. This year, I won't be able to participate in the race day activities (I will be in my friend, Chandler's wedding that day!), but fellow Rodney's Roadrunner teammate, Banks Westbrook, has graciously agreed to lead the race day charge!
I would love it if you would like to join team "Rodney's Roadrunners" in running/walking in this event on May 12th. If you are unable to participate in the actual race like me, I am asking for donations to help us reach our fundraising goal. Each and every gift for our team is GREATLY appreciated; and no gift is too small! Your generosity truly makes a difference, as funds raised at this event have helped to:
Create the largest genomic data set in any cancer
Advance the MMRF Precision Medicine Model
Nearly tripled patient survival
Deliver ten new treatments in a decade
Launch over 70 new clinical trials
Now is the time for us to continue these life-changing initiatives while developing new breakthroughs in myeloma research!
The mission of the Multiple Myeloma Research Foundation (MMRF) is to find a cure for multiple myeloma by relentlessly pursuing innovation that accelerates the development of next-generation treatments to extend the lives of patients. Founded in 1998 by Kathy Giusti, a multiple myeloma patient, and her twin sister Karen Andrews as a 501(c) (3) nonprofit organization, the MMRF is a world-recognized leader in cancer research. Together with its partners, the MMRF has created the only end-to-end solution in precision medicine and the single largest genomic dataset in all cancers. The MMRF continues to disrupt the industry today, as a pioneer and leader at the helm of new research efforts. Since its inception, the organization has raised over $400 million and directs nearly 90% of the total funds to research and related programs. To learn more, visit themmrf.org.
Please support our participation in the MMRF Team for Cures 5K Walk/Run. Your donation will have a meaningful impact on the lives of thousands of patients and their families! The MMRF is bringing treatments to trial 60 percent faster than the industry standard and tripling life expectancy. THIS IS SCIENCE, NOT FICTION. The MMRF needs your support. History is being made, so we invite you to join us.
