Dear Family and Friends,

On Sunday, April 28, my family and I will be participating in the Multiple Myeloma Research Foundation (MMRF) Team for Cures 5K Walk/Run. I am committed to raising awareness and funds to accelerate finding a cure for multiple myeloma, which is the second most common blood cancer and is currently incurable.

Your generosity truly makes a difference, as funds raised at this event in the past have helped to:
-Nearly tripled patient survival
-Deliver ten new treatments in a decade
-Launched over 80 new clinical trials

Helping raise funds for research through participation in the MMRF Team for Cures Boston 5K Walk/Run is very important to me and my family. As most of you know, my Mom was first diagnosed with Multiple Myeloma in July, 2013 and had a stem-cell transplant in December, 2013. Since July, 2013, she has had many doctor appointments and taken daily, monthly, and bi-monthly medications. We are grateful for the research and medications available for Multiple Myeloma as well as the excellent medical care she receives from some of the best Doctors.

I am so proud of my Mom as she along with many others continue to fight and raise money for research with the goal of one day finding a cure for Multiple Myeloma! Over the past few years, we have seen her strength, determination, and watch her be an inspiration to others. She has a wonderful support system of family and friends cheering her on every step of the way and for that, we are so appreciative.

The mission of the Multiple Myeloma Research Foundation (MMRF) is to find a cure for multiple myeloma by relentlessly pursuing innovation that accelerates the development of next-generation treatments to extend the lives of patients. Founded in 1998 by Kathy Giusti, a multiple myeloma patient, and her twin sister Karen Andrews as a 501(c) (3) nonprofit organization, the MMRF is a world-recognized leader in cancer research. Together with its partners, the MMRF has created the only end-to-end solution in precision medicine and the single largest genomic dataset in all cancers. The MMRF continues to disrupt the industry today, as a pioneer and leader at the helm of new research efforts. Since its inception, the organization has raised over $400 million and directs nearly 90% of the total funds to research and related programs. The MMRF needs your support. History is being made, so we invite you to join us.

I hope you will support the MMRF by walking or running on April 28 and joining Team Sandy’s Smiles, cheering for us during the event, or by making a donation to the MMRF. To register to walk/run or donate, please visit : walkrun.themmrf.org/boston/Team/View/101407/Sandys-Smiles

On behalf of our family, thank you SO much in advance for your support and generosity!
