This year, Cris and I will again be participating in the MMRF Team for Cures 5K Walk/Run on Sunday, April 29, at Carson Beach in South Boston at 8 am. We are committed to raising awareness and funds to accelerate finding a cure for multiple myeloma, which is the second most common blood cancer and is incurable.
Please support our participation in this MMRF event. Your past donations have had a meaningful impact on my life, and on many others. I am happy to report that this past year has been a good one for me. Part of my therapy is a monoclonal antibody that targets myeloma plasma cells, a treatment protocol that did not exist 2 years ago. The MMRF helped fund research for this treatment and I am forever grateful to all of you who have made this research possible with your donations.
As the worlds' number-one private funder of multiple myeloma research, the MMRF has raised over 400 million dollars since its inception and directs over 90% of donations to research and related programming. Your generosity truly makes a difference, as funds raised at this event in the past have helped to:
- Create the largest genomic dataset in any cancer
- Nearly tripled patient survival (I was diagnosed in 2001)
- Deliver ten new treatments in a decade
- Launch over 70 new clinical trials
The MMRF still needs your support. History is being made, so we invite you to join us as the MMRF continues to support cutting edge research.
Please share this message with family, friends and on social media, and please join us in the walk if you are able. Thank you.
