Team Carol Pettigrew
Join Us! The MMRF is removing obstacles faster and extending lives. But we need your help. - Team Carol Pettigrew
A sweet and cherished friend of mine and so many others, Carol Pettigrew, was diagnosed with Multiple Myeloma (MM) in December of 2016. Following her diagnosis, she began medical treatment which included chemotherapy, radiation, immunotherapy, and multiple blood transfusions, along with several other medications and much more. Carol’s faith, the love and support of her family and friends, and the caring and prestigious doctors helped carry her through as she battled MM with every ounce of her being. Carol fought long and hard. She battled this disease courageously, fiercely and gracefully and never lost hope. She remained faithful to God even in the midst of her pain and suffering until the Lord called her home on September 20th, 2018.
Please join me in keeping Carol’s memory alive and active by either donating money to the Multiple Myeloma Research Foundation (MMRF) or consider joining My Team as we participate in the MMRF Chicago 5K Walk/Run for a Cure on Sunday September 15th, 2019 in memory of Carol Pettigrew and all those who courageously fought and lost their battle with this deadly disease. This race is exactly 5 days prior to the 1-year anniversary of Carol’s passing. I can’t think of a better way to help honor her by joining together in her name, running/walking in memory of her and the battle she fought so hard, while raising money to help find a cure for others that continue their fight against this disease. Your generosity truly makes a difference as money raised in the past has helped to:
Nearly tripled patient survival
Deliver eleven new treatments in a decade
Launched over 80 new clinical trials
The Multiple Myeloma Research Foundation (MMRF) was established in 1998 as a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization by twin sisters Karen Andrews and Kathy Giusti, soon after Kathy's diagnosis with multiple myeloma. The mission of the MMRF is to relentlessly pursue innovative means that accelerate the development of next-generation multiple myeloma treatments to extend the lives of patients and lead to a cure.
As the world's number-one private funder of multiple myeloma research, the MMRF has raised over $330 million since its inception and directs 90% of total budget to research and related programming. The MMRF has received a “Best in America” Seal of Excellence from the Independent Charities of America, and an “A+” rating from the American Institute of Philanthropy. The MMRF has been recognized by Philanthropedia as one of 16 expert-identified, high-impact nonprofits in the field of cancer. We are also in compliance with all of the Better Business Bureau’s Wise Giving Alliance Standards for Charity Accountability. Rated 1 of 2 highly rated cancer organizations from Consumer Reports.
Please support our participation in the MMRF Team for Cures 5K Walk/Run. Your donation will have a meaningful impact on the lives of thousands of patients and their families! The MMRF is bringing treatments to trial 60 percent faster than the industry standard and tripling life expectancy. THIS IS SCIENCE, NOT FICTION. The MMRF needs your support. History is being made, so we invite you to join us.
