Please walk with MC's Crew on Sunday, September 15th to support the MMRF and celebrate my mom's continued remission as we work to find a cure for multiple myeloma!
Multiple myeloma is the second most common form of blood cancer and, sadly, has one of the lowest five-year relative survival rates of all cancers. But while there is no cure today, incredible progress is being made every year thanks to organizations such as the MMRF, the world's leading private funder of myeloma research.
As a result of the MMRF's dedication to cancer research, and money raised through generous donors, the FDA has approved 11 new treatments that have almost tripled the lifespan of myeloma patients. And now the MMRF is funding over 80 additional treatments in various stages of development (bringing treatments to trial 60% faster than the industry standard), giving hope to tens of thousands of patients and their families. As the world's number-one private funder of multiple myeloma research, the MMRF has raised over $330 million since its inception and directs 90% of total budget to research and related programming. The MMRF has received a “Best in America” Seal of Excellence from the Independent Charities of America, and an “A+” rating from the American Institute of Philanthropy. The MMRF has been recognized by Philanthropedia as one of 16 expert-identified, high-impact nonprofits in the field of cancer.
An active advocate of the MMRF, my mom has relied on the support of the MMRF to identify new treatment options that are helping her continue her fight year after year -- ultimately leading her to the University of Chicago Comprehensive Cancer Center where she underwent a multi-year clinical trial including a stem cell transplant and chemotherapy drugs fast-tracked by the MMRF. Today I'm so happy and proud to say that my mom's cancer is in remission, six years after her diagnosis. However, we remain determined to support the incredible research that continues to be done as we get closer to identifying a cure to multiple myeloma.
We're so looking forward to spending the day supporting the MMRF and celebrating patients like my mom in their inspiring fight against multiple myeloma! If you are able to support the Multiple Myeloma Research Foundation's mission to cure this cancer, your donation is so appreciated by myself, my family, the MMRF, and families facing multiple myeloma across the world.
Thanks so much,
Grant & MC's Crew
