THIS IS MY COMMITTMENT

Team Dambowic

Team Dambowic

To participate in this walk/fundraiser every year no matter how I am feeling and what my capabilities are. To simply show up!!
This year I am of course looking for a few friends that will join me that day ( and that can very well include those who can not walk, the way it is set up, you do not have to walk to be part of the day!)
Scientists and researchers and leaders of blood cancer are ALL talking about the beginning of a cure, just in the baby phase.
My job, having been diagnosed 4 years ago is to hang on till that opportunity of a cure presents itself.
This is one of the main organizations prepared to go all the way and do that.
But really it is not about me, it is about that understanding blood cancers opens many of the doors to other cancers and I have watched too many friends go through these barbaric procedures in a fight for their lives.

This year, if you are not signing up to walk with me (a $30 registration fee), I am asking you to donate in multiples of $18 -"Chai", which in part signifies a good omen for life. The act of giving, gifting or donating $18 or a multiples thereof is commonly referred to as "giving chai." This nomenclature extends to multiples as the number 36 is commonly referred to as "double Chai". Symbolically, these gestures are representative of giving a gift of 'life"

The mission of the Multiple Myeloma Research Foundation (MMRF) is to find a cure for multiple myeloma by relentlessly pursuing innovation that accelerates the development of next-generation treatments to extend the lives of patients. Founded in 1998 by Kathy Giusti, a multiple myeloma patient, and her twin sister Karen Andrews as a 501(c) (3) nonprofit organization, the MMRF is a world-recognized leader in cancer research. Together with its partners, the MMRF has created the only end-to-end solution in precision medicine and the single largest genomic dataset in all cancers. The MMRF continues to disrupt the industry today, as a pioneer and leader at the helm of new research efforts. Since its inception, the organization has raised over $400 million and directs nearly 90% of the total funds to research and related programs. The MMRF is in the top 1% of all charities, having earned Charity Navigator’s 4-star rating for 16 years. To learn more, visit themmrf.org.

Please support my participation in the MMRF Team for Cures 5K Walk/Run. Your donation will have a meaningful impact on the lives of thousands of patients and their families!

Thank You! and much love Judith C Dambowic
