Team Moose says Move over Myeloma

Join Us!
This is our 5th year participating in the MMRF 5k program. Team Moose has raised over $100,000 for MMRF since 2015. We are committed to raising awareness and funds to accelerate finding a cure for multiple myeloma, which is the second most common blood cancer and is incurable. Your generosity truly makes a difference, as funds raised at this event in the past have helped to:

Nearly tripled patient survival
Deliver ten new treatments in a decade
Launched over 80 new clinical trials

Most of you reading this know that our dad, Larry "Moose" Calufetti was diagnosed with multiple myeloma in March of 2014. (Our team name comes from "Moose" being his nickname from his baseball playing days). He battled like a true warrior for almost two years, against one of the most aggressive forms of myeloma that top specialists around the country had seen. He lost his life to the disease February 1, 2016.

The mission of the Multiple Myeloma Research Foundation (MMRF) is to find a cure for multiple myeloma by relentlessly pursuing innovation that accelerates the development of next-generation treatments to extend the lives of patients. Founded in 1998 by Kathy Giusti, a multiple myeloma patient, and her twin sister Karen Andrews as a 501(c) (3) nonprofit organization, the MMRF is a world-recognized leader in cancer research. Together with its partners, the MMRF has created the only end-to-end solution in precision medicine and the single largest genomic dataset in all cancers. The MMRF continues to disrupt the industry today, as a pioneer and leader at the helm of new research efforts. Since its inception, the organization has raised over $400 million and directs nearly 90% of the total funds to research and related programs. The MMRF is in the top 1% of all charities, having earned Charity Navigator’s 4-star rating for 16 years. To learn more, visit

We hope that you can join us on "Team Moose" (walkers & runners welcome :) Your participation will have a meaningful impact on the lives of thousands of patients and their families! 100% of all funds go to MMRF!
Our dad was so passionate about participating in these events. He was persistent and driven in everything that he did in life, especially fighting cancer.

Lots of Love,
