As many of you know, my father passed away from multiple myeloma twenty-five years ago at the age of 62. He lived long enough to meet his grandson, Hani Nicholas, (see photo), but, sadly, he never met his two granddaughters, Alexandra Azzam and Leslie McMann. Several years later, we lost my husband’s uncle to this same devastating disease. More recently, my father-in-law lost a cousin to this same disease. I don't want the list to get any longer.

On June 15, 2019, I will, once again, be participating in the MMRF Race for Research 5K Walk/Run because I want to make a difference in the lives of multiple myeloma patients. This date seems particularly fitting since it is also Father’s Day weekend. I hope that you will support my efforts and this wonderful organization. I thank you in advance for your generosity and support.

The Multiple Myeloma Research Foundation (MMRF) is a leading cancer-research foundation that has helped to triple survival for multiple myeloma patients since its inception. I have committed to raising awareness and funds to accelerate finding a cure for multiple myeloma, which is the second most common blood cancer and is incurable. Your generosity truly makes a difference, as funds raised at this event have helped to
deliver ten new treatments in a decade and launched over 80 new clinical trials.
The MMRF continues to build innovative collaborative models that will accelerate the development of new and better treatments for multiple myeloma and all cancer patients, and lead to cures.

When my father was diagnosed, multiple myeloma was a rare form of cancer. In 2019, many people are diagnosed with this devastating illness. There is still no cure, but with the work of the MMRF, people do live longer than the two years that was my father’s lifespan after he was diagnosed. It is my belief that the work of the MMRF will ultimately bring about a cure for this form of cancer.

I hope that you will support my efforts and this leading research organization. Again, thank you in advance for your support and generosity! Every little bit helps as we work to reach the ultimate finish line: a cure.
